PROACTIVE CHIROPRACTIC CARE
Chiropractic Care & Spinal
Optimization in Laguna Niguel
Your spine is designed to move well throughout life. At Waddell Wellness & Performance, we take a proactive approach to spinal health—evaluating alignment, mobility, posture and relevant nervous-system patterns, then personalizing care to support better movement, function, and long-term spinal and nervous-system health.
Rather than waiting for pain to be the only reason to pay attention to your spine, we reassess progress over time and help you actively maintain the healthiest spine possible.

BEYOND TEMPORARY RELIEF
A More Complete Approach to Chiropractic Care in Laguna Niguel
Spinal health is more than whether you hurt today. How well your spine moves, how your joints
are functioning, your posture and the way your body handles everyday demands can all influence how well you move and function over time.
Our goal is to identify meaningful changes early, address what can be improved, and reassess
over time—so your care is focused not only on how you feel today, but on maintaining
healthy spinal movement, function and long-term spinal health.
A MORE THOROUGH LOOK
A More Thorough Evaluation Comes First
Before recommending care, we take time to understand how your spine is structured, moving and functioning. Depending on your history and findings, your evaluation may include a spinal examination, posture and movement assessment, digital nervous-system scans, balance testing and digital X-rays when clinically appropriate.

“Dr. Scott was so helpful in mapping out a plan for me. He evaluated my spine and detailed out the plan... I was so impressed with the level of technology used and the time he took with me each time. After a few weeks of care, my pain was gone!... I'm now able to exercise again and do the fun things I use to do! Highly recommend Waddell Wellness!!”

CARE BUILT AROUND YOU
Every Patient Deserves an Individualized Approach
Some patients prefer traditional hands-on adjusting. Others are more comfortable with precise lower-force or instrument-assisted care. Our adjusting options include traditional diversified and Gonstead-style manual care, ArthroStim, Activator and other lower-force instrument-assisted approaches. We choose the approach based on your examination findings, history, goals, comfort and response to care.

CARE THAT EVOLVES WITH YOU
Progress Is More Than What Happens on the Table

Care doesn’t stop with the adjustment. When appropriate, we may include targeted stretches, exercises, traction, decompression and other home-care strategies to help improve and preserve spinal mobility, function and long-term spinal health.
Progress evaluations help us see how your spine is responding and whether your care should change, decrease in frequency or transition into a supportive phase focused on maintaining healthy movement, function and spinal vitality over time.

How you feel matters—but it isn’t the only measure of spinal health. Changes in mobility, alignment, joint function and the way your spine handles everyday demands can develop before they become an obvious problem. Our long-term philosophy is to evaluate, improve and preserve healthy spinal function over time. As your needs change, care can become less about reacting to discomfort and more about maintaining mobility, resilience and spinal vitality for the years ahead.

Victoria Feldman
“I have been a regular patient of Dr. Jennifer going on 2 years now and I couldn't be more pleased. I've dealt with back issues for 15 years and bounced from different chiropractors and PTs without finding a real solution until now. Waddell Wellness is unlike any place I've been before. Different techniques and tools, true care and concern for their patients, and a very comfortable atmosphere.”

Different healthcare disciplines often begin with different questions. At Waddell Wellness, our evaluation is specifically designed to look at spinal alignment, joint motion and function, posture, and relevant nervous-system patterns—not only the symptom that brought you in.
That doesn’t mean previous care was wrong or incomplete. It means our chiropractic evaluation is intentionally looking for a specific set of spinal and functional findings that may guide a different strategy, additional imaging, referral, or another form of care when appropriate.

WANT TO UNDERSTAND MORE?
A Deeper Look at How We Support Spinal Health
For those who want to understand more, the sections below explain the techniques, corrective strategies, neurological assessments and clinical decision-making that may be used as part of an individualized spinal-optimization plan.
SEEING BENEATH THE SURFACE
Digital X-Rays Add an Important
Structural Perspective
What we can see and feel during an examination tells us a great deal—but it cannot show us everything happening beneath the surface. When a patient’s history, symptoms or spinal examination indicate that imaging is appropriate, digital X-rays give us a clearer view of spinal structure and alignment.
We may look at the position and alignment of individual vertebrae, the shape of the spinal curves, disc-space height, degenerative changes, arthritic changes around the vertebral bodies and facet joints, and other structural findings that may influence how the spine is moving and functioning.
Those findings become part of the clinical picture we use to make recommendations. They can also help a patient better understand the condition of their spine today and what may be important to address or manage proactively for long-term spinal health.
Alignment & Spinal Curves
X-rays can help us evaluate vertebral alignment and changes in normal spinal curves, including straightening or reversal where present.
Disc Spaces & Degenerative Change
Disc-space narrowing, osteoarthritic changes and facet-joint degeneration can provide important context about the history and current condition of the spine.
Planning for the Long Term
Structural findings are considered alongside the examination, neurological findings, movement and patient goals when determining the most appropriate care strategy.

THE SPINE & NERVOUS SYSTEM
Looking Beyond the Spine
Spinal alignment and joint motion are only part of the picture. When appropriate, we also use noninvasive neurological assessments to add context about how the nervous system and spinal muscles are adapting.
These measurements are pieces of the overall evaluation—not stand-alone diagnoses. We consider them alongside your history, spinal examination, posture, movement and imaging when appropriate.
HRV
— Adaptability & Recovery
HRV gives us a noninvasive look at how your autonomic nervous system is responding and adapting, adding context about stress load, recovery and overall resilience.
Surface EMG
— Muscular Activity & Tension
Surface EMG measures patterns of muscle activity along the spine and can help show where muscles may be working harder, guarding or compensating.
Thermal Scanning
— Temperature Patterns
Thermal scanning measures skin-temperature patterns along the spine and provides another data point that can be compared with the rest of your evaluation and over time.
OUR ADJUSTING APPROACH
Specific Techniques. Chosen for the Individual.
Dr. Scott Waddell trained at Palmer College of Chiropractic in traditional Palmer adjusting methods, with additional postgraduate training in Gonstead technique and Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP).
Dr. Jennifer Waddell trained at Life College of Chiropractic in traditional chiropractic adjusting methods, with additional postgraduate training in Activator technique and is Activator proficiency rated.
Together, their training allows them to choose from several adjusting approaches based on your examination findings, spinal structure, history, goals and comfort level.
Gonstead & Diversified Adjusting
Manual adjusting may include Diversified and Gonstead-informed techniques. Gonstead training emphasizes identifying specific spinal segments that are restricted or dysfunctional and delivering a precise adjustment to that segment. Diversified adjusting allows the doctors to adapt hands-on care to the region involved and the individual patient.

ArthroStim Instrument Adjusting
ArthroStim is a mechanical adjusting instrument used by both Dr. Scott and Dr. Jennifer. It delivers controlled, repetitive impulses to a specifically selected spinal or joint area, allowing the doctors to localize care without the rotational movement used in some manual adjustments. The force can be adapted to the patient and the area being treated, making it a useful lower-force option that many patients find comfortable.

Activator Technique
Activator provides a precise, localized, lower-force adjustment without the rotational movement often associated with traditional manual adjusting. It can be a good option for patients who prefer a gentler approach or are apprehensive about popping or cracking.

Postural & CBP-Informed Care
Dr. Scott’s training in Chiropractic BioPhysics informs a broader approach to spinal alignment and posture. This may include evaluation of spinal curves, global postural patterns and how different regions of the spine relate to one another, with corrective strategies selected according to the individual findings.

SUPPORTING THE WORK BETWEEN VISITS
Spinal Hygiene, Mobility & Home Strategies
Adjustments are one part of a long-term spinal health strategy. Based on your findings and goals, we may recommend specific mobility work, exercises, traction, decompression and everyday spinal-hygiene habits designed not only to support your progress now, but to help preserve healthy movement, function and spinal resilience over time.
Targeted Movement & Exercise
Traction & Structural Support
Daily Spinal Hygiene
Specific stretches, mobility work and exercises may be recommended based on areas of restriction, weakness, posture or movement patterns found during your evaluation.
When appropriate, home strategies may include cervical or lumbar traction, Posture Pump, a cervical lordosis fulcrum or other tools selected to support mobility and spinal mechanics.
Posture, movement breaks, lifting habits, sleep positioning and other everyday choices can become part of a lifelong strategy for reducing unnecessary strain and helping your spine move and function as well as possible for as long as possible.
The goal is not simply better movement today
—it is healthier spinal habits for the years ahead.
